What’s the difference between a Food Allergy and Food Intolerance?

Classic allergies relate to cases where the adverse reaction is very quick and can often be violent and severe. It occurs usually within the hour.  Symptoms can often include swelling of the lips, throat or other areas of the body, skin rashes, breathing difficulties, runny nose, and digestive symptoms such as vomiting, pain or diarrhoea.

Classical food allergies are quite rare, and affect a very small minority. They are, however quite dangerous, e.g. peanuts are known to have the potential to kill individuals, unless adrenaline is injected quickly to stop the allergic reaction.

Food intolerances or sensitivities affect a great number of people, you can grow in and out of them. The symptoms caused by food intolerances rarely occur immediately after eating the offending food, they can occur after several minutes, hours or even days later which makes detecting the offending foods very difficult for the individual. This is where the test helps by pin pointing the  offending foods.

A simple painless test could change your life forever

What does a test involve?

Over 100 substances which include common foods and drinks are tested during the consultation.
The equipment used is a bio-electronic analyzer which measures the body's electrical resistance to the afore mentioned substances. If a substance is causing a problem then it will effect the body's electrical resistance. The test is completely painless and is best described as a ball point pen touching the tip of your finger upon a acupuncture point. The original concept behind the machine stems from a discovery made in the 1950’s by a German medical doctor Dr Reinold Voll, The machine has an accuracy rate of 75 - 80% and gives immediate results.

Who can be tested?

This test is suitable for anyone other than those with a pacemaker and any aged child subject to them being on solid foods. If you are taking prescribed medication this will not interfere with the test.
